We are seeking an experienced Safety Officer to support fire protection system maintenance projects within industrial and oil & gas facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in compliance with client HSE requirements, Permit to Work (PTW) procedures, and applicable safety standards.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in construction, maintenance, or oil & gas industrial facility maintenance projects.
- At least 3 years of experience in HSE support for firefighting and fire protection system installation, inspection, testing, or maintenance projects.
- Hands-on experience supporting the maintenance of fire protection systems, including:
- Fire alarm systems
- Automatic sprinkler systems
- Fire hydrant systems
- Hose reel systems
- Fire pumps
- Deluge systems
- Clean agent suppression systems
- Foam systems
- Portable fire extinguishers
- Experience monitoring fire protection maintenance activities and ensuring compliance with:
- Permit to Work (PTW) systems
- Risk Assessments
- Method Statements
- Safe Work Procedures
- Experience working in accordance with client HSE requirements on industrial facilities, utilities, or large accommodation/community infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and enforce HSE compliance during fire protection maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved PTW, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and company HSE procedures.
- Conduct routine HSE inspections and safety audits.
- Participate in incident reporting and investigations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, company policies, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams and client representatives to ensure safe execution of work.
Key Competencies:
- Good knowledge of fire protection systems and associated maintenance activities.
- Familiarity with applicable NFPA standards related to fire protection systems.
- Good understanding of:
- Permit to Work (PTW)
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Last Minute Risk Assessment (LMRA)
- Ability to conduct HSE inspections, incident investigations, toolbox talks, and safety audits.
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Education & Certifications:
Education:
- Diploma in Fire & Safety Engineering or
- Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in any engineering discipline.
Mandatory Certification:
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)
Preferred Certifications:
- IOSH Managing Safely or IOSH Working Safely
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- Fire Warden / Fire Safety Training
