About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Partial Discharge (PD) Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing Partial Discharge (PD) testing and condition monitoring activities on electrical transmission and distribution substations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, integrity, and safe operation of high-voltage electrical assets through accurate diagnostic testing and condition assessment.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in high-voltage systems, condition monitoring, and asset diagnostics while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Partial Discharge (PD) testing and condition monitoring on transmission and distribution substations.
- Execute inspection and testing activities in accordance with approved procedures, method statements, project specifications, and industry standards.
- Work under the guidance and supervision of the Team Leader to deliver testing activities safely and efficiently.
- Apply appropriate PD detection techniques and diagnostic methods to identify defects and assess the condition of electrical assets.
- Analyse test data and promptly report abnormalities, defects, or unusual findings to the Team Leader.
- Ensure compliance with all high-voltage safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and company HSE requirements.
- Protect plant and equipment by carrying out testing activities without causing damage to operational assets.
- Prepare and maintain accurate technical reports, test records, and supporting documentation.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain PD testing instruments in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations.
- Participate in technical training, safety programmes, and continuous professional development.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance asset reliability and condition monitoring practices.
Qualifications:
- Full-time Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university, college, or institution.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in condition monitoring of electrical transmission and distribution substations.
- Proven experience in Partial Discharge (PD) testing and electrical asset diagnostics.
- Sound understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and substation equipment.
