Job Title: Infrared (IR) Thermography Engineer.
The Infrared (IR) Thermography Engineer is responsible for conducting infrared thermographic inspections and condition monitoring of electrical transmission and distribution substations. The role ensures the safe, accurate, and timely execution of thermographic inspections in accordance with approved procedures, industry standards, and requirements while supporting the reliability and integrity of electrical assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform infrared (IR) thermographic inspections on electrical transmission and distribution substations.
- Conduct condition monitoring activities in accordance with approved method statements and project requirements.
- Work under the guidance and supervision of the Team Leader.
- Identify thermal anomalies, abnormal heating, and potential equipment defects using infrared thermography.
- Analyze thermographic images and inspection data to assess equipment condition and recommend corrective actions.
- Report any abnormalities or critical findings immediately to the Team Leader.
- Prepare accurate thermography reports, inspection records, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure all inspection activities comply with applicable safety procedures and permit-to-work requirements for high-voltage installations.
- Handle and maintain thermographic equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
- Ensure prevention of damage to plant and equipment during inspection activities.
- Participate in technical and safety training programmed as required.
Qualifications:
- Full-time Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university, college.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in condition monitoring of electrical transmission and distribution substations.
- Practical experience in infrared thermographic inspections of high-voltage electrical equipment.
- Sound knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in infrared thermography techniques for electrical condition monitoring.
- Ability to identify, interpret, and evaluate thermal patterns and equipment abnormalities.
- Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and associated safety requirements.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for electrical asset condition monitoring.
Certifications:
- Mandatory: Thermography Level I Certification from an accredited institute acceptable to.
- Shall have undergone the required training relevant to infrared thermography.
- All certificates and training records shall be produced to for review as required.

- Demonstrate full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Be fully aware of the hazards and risks associated with high-voltage installations.
- Follow approved work procedures, permit-to-work systems, and safety guidelines at all times.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and equipment abnormalities immediately to the Team Leader.
- Ensure all inspection activities are carried out without causing damage to plant and equipment.
